Buy live beach worms at Tackle World Rainbow Beach

Largest live worm retailer on Australia's East Coast!

We're proud to be somewhat famous for what is probably the largest and most extensive live worm operation in Queensland, if not Australia. In our team are some of the best professional wormers from the local region, which is what allows us to always have a steady supply throughout the year. If you're serious about beach and estuary fishing around Rainbow Beach and the Fraser Coast, live worms are one of the absolute prime baits - especially our local beach worms.

Kept alive in tanks and served to order

At the shop, we've got multiple large bio-tanks to keep our worms lively and in perfect condition before we serve them to you in plastic containers. This is key, as a lively, wriggling worm on the end of your hook, when rigged correctly, is absolutely one of the best ways to entice quality fish to bite. The tanks are set up to keep the worms alive for multiple days in perfect nick, and this helps us ensure continuity of supply ready for your next trip.

What fish are live beach worms good bait for?

Live worms are an absolute go-to for bread-and-butter species like Whiting, Dart, Bream and Flathead, but they can also produce plenty of surprises like Tailor, Jewfish and even Trevally when you're fishing the local gutters, beaches, creek mouths and estuaries.

Available in a range of sizes

We stock Small, Large and Mega Tubs, so you can grab enough for a quick session or stock up for a longer trip. Worm availability naturally depends on conditions and what our local wormers can get, so if you're chasing a particular size or quantity, give us a call in advance on 0404 853 232 or drop in and see what's available.

Fishing with Live Beach Worms

Drew's Recommendations

Live worms are the absolute best bait around here for Whiting and great for other bread-and-butter species like Bream, Dart and Flathead too. Although there are better baits for the larger species like Tailor, Jewfish and Trevally, it's good to know you can still pick the odd one up when using live worms too - especially if you put lots of wriggling pieces on a hook. Fish live worms in close around the surf gutters, estuaries, sandbanks and flats.

They're perfect for kids and simple fishing too - a worm on a long-shank hook, light trace to a swivel and running sinker, is an easy rig for anyone to do up and proven to catch plenty of fish. Any worms you don't use can easily be frozen in a plastic container with a little sand for months.

There's something about grabbing a few worms and heading down the beach to catch a few Whiting that I find more satisfying than any other type of fishing. Maybe it's nostalgia, the simplicity, or my 25+ years as a professional wormer - but there's just something about it you can't beat.
